On September 13th, The Bank of England released the new polymer "Fiver". This new £5 note is designed to last 2.5 times longer than the standard paper note, which will be withdrawn in May 2017, where it will no longer be legal tender or accepted in shops.
The Good News
The note readers in Cash Loaders / Reval Machines will be able to accept the new polymer £5 notes without any new hardware needing to be purchased.
However, the machines do require an update to the software and firmware, as well as recalibration for the note reader in the cashloader.
